UNDERSTANDING YOUR HAIR

DIY Refresher Sprays

Whether you have been rocking your wash and go for 4-5 days or your curls just need to wake up a bit, these sprays help you to refresh, detangle and define your curls. They are honestly so simple and quick to make and really effective.

There are so many amazing benefits to refresher sprays. They are a very quick and simple way of moisturising your hair, and since you can decide what bottle you put it in, it is super easy to pop in your bag and take with you while you're out and about. One thing I must warn you about is as these products all contain water, without preservatives, they will only last around 7 days. This is due to bacterial growth but to slow this down I would recommend you store any sprays you make in a cool dark area or better yet, the fridge.

Pure Hydration

WATER SPRAY

A water spray is a quick and easy spray and it's basically free. All you need is a tap and a spray bottle. Fundamentally, moisture comes from water and while you can apply all the oils creams, lotions and potions to your hair. Your hair needs water to stay hydrated. So this is spray is basically my go-to hair product and never really leaves my side. I love using this as well because I find it a lot easier to style my hair when it is damp.

Light Moisture and Hydration

WATER, CONDITIONER AND OIL SPRAY

Now, this is a great way to upgrade your water spray and is also extremely inexpensive. To do this you need to fill a spray bottle 2/3 with water and then add in a few squirts of conditioner and a swig of oil. I would recommend using a light conditioner (one that is quite watery) as it will help to mix in the water rather than sinking to the bottom. Shake the mixture thoroughly before spraying in your hair. This makes it easy to detangle your hair because the oil and conditioner give your hair more slip. It also adds moisture and conditions your hair which will give you softer shiny hair.
Ultimate Hydration

WATER, ALOE VERA, APPLE CIDER VINEGAR, CONDITIONER AND OIL SPRAY

The longest formula of the three but probably the most powerful. Fill a spray bottle 1/3 water and 1/3 Apple cider vinegar. Add 2/3 squirts of Aloe Vera gel and 10-20 drops of any essential oils to help with the smell of the vinegar. Apple Cider Vinegar is not only a natural conditioner, but it also helps balance the pH of the hair, and remove product build-up which is great for refreshing curls, especially if they are feeling heavy or weighed down. Aloe Vera contains 20 different amino acids, which condition and help promote natural moisture in the hair. This is a great way to help keep your hair moisturised and to get rid of any product build-up.
I hope that these DIY refresher sprays help to keep you 2nd 3rd 4th 5th and even 6th day curls looking healthy, bouncy and shiny.
